Blast-holes in hard rock, fast
A down-the-hole (DTH) rig places the percussion hammer directly behind the bit at the bottom of the hole, so energy is not lost down the drill string; this keeps holes straight and fast even at depth in hard rock. A top-hammer rig strikes from the surface through the rods, drilling smaller holes very quickly in medium rock.
Compressed air drives the hammer and flushes cuttings from the hole; the rig carries an onboard compressor or pairs with a separate towable one for larger holes. Crawler undercarriage, hydraulic feed and an adjustable boom let one machine drill vertical and angled holes across a quarry bench or road cut.

DTH (down-the-hole) suits hard rock and deeper, straighter, larger holes because the hammer stays at the bottom and loses no energy in the rods. Top-hammer drills smaller holes faster in medium rock and costs less per rig. Tell us your rock and hole plan and we recommend the method.
Smaller rigs carry an onboard compressor. Larger-diameter or deep DTH drilling needs more air than a rig can carry, so it pairs with a separate towable diesel screw compressor. We size the air to your hole diameter and depth and can supply the compressor with the rig.
Common blast-hole diameters run 90 to 150 mm, and with rod extensions holes reach roughly 20 to 30 m depending on model, rock and air. Larger mining rigs go bigger. Tell us your bench height and required diameter and we match a rig and consumable set to it.
It depends heavily on rock abrasiveness, air pressure and operator technique, so life is measured in drilled metres, not time. Button bits and DTH hammers are wear items you re-sharpen and eventually replace. We supply them continuously so drilling never stops for want of consumables.
Yes. The boom and feed adjust from vertical to a range of angles, which is needed for pre-split and smooth-blast rows on quarry and road-cut faces. We confirm the boom's angle range against your bench and slope design.
Yes. A dust collector or wet-flushing kit can be fitted to control silica dust from dry drilling, which matters for operator health and for working near communities. Tell us your site rules and we include the right dust-suppression option.
Yes. OCALWA consolidates the unit from a verified factory, arranges RORO or container shipping, and provides full export documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, bill of lading).
